When we first started generating ideas towards the project my first plan was to go with a darker theme such as the environments from Resident evil 2, so i was thinking something towards a Gothic alleyway with a tense atmosphere. The reason I chose this idea was because its an atmosphere that I like to be in when playing a video game or watching a movie, it just creates tension and suspense and sets the mood for the character placed in that particular scene.
This was just my idea for the environment but we wasn't using that idea alone, team mates Richard and Dean had to come up with their own ideas for their environment also so we could then sit down together and discuss the chosen idea for our environment and also how we could improve on it. After the first week we had chosen our final setting for our environment which was chosen by Team mate Richard, the environment we were going to chose was going to be inside a kitchen. Now that the environment was chosen their had to be a story that goes along with it, the story we had chosen was based on a cockroach who lived in the wall of the kitchen and had to somehow manage his way from one end of the room to the other.
The reason that the cockroach idea fitted well with the environment is that these commonly annoying pest are familiar to be found in the kitchen and what not better way to show off the surroundings of the environment then to have the first person perspective of the cockroach making his way around the kitchen. Part of the project was to have the character in the scene interact with the environments or to interact with the objects in the environment. The way we could pull this off was by having the cockroach reaching his destination and trying to avoid sudden mishaps such as tea pot glasses or shelves fulling down on him and for him not to to be killed in the process.
